Analysen har skett genom kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultatet är uppdelat i fyra huvudkategorier: God vård, Livskvalitet, Vårdplan,samt Egenvård. Dorothea Orem's theoretical framework was also used. The data was collected at the Department of Endocrinology and the Endocrinology Clinic, Choray hospital, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It was 100 participants who answered a questionnaire about their diabetes self-care activities.

Dorothea Elizabeth Orem. Dorothea Orem attended Seton High School in Baltimore and graduated in 1931. She received a diploma from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., in 1934. She went on to the Catholic University of America to earn a B.S. in Nursing Education in 1939 and an M.S. in Nursing Education in 1945. In the Dorothea Orem Self Care Deficit Nursing Theory, the role of a nurse is to fill-in the gaps of care that an individual cannot provide for themselves. Orem theorizes that individuals will initiate and perform their own self-care activities on a regular basis so that their overall health and well-being can be maximized.
